Wildlife along the Boteti River at Sunset; Makgadikgadi Pans National Park in Botswana - stock photo

African savanna elephants ( Loxodonta africana ), aka African bush elephants and Burchell's zebra (Equus quagga burchellii) at sunset along the Boteti River. This array of wildlife was seen while exploring the region near the Okavango Delta in Botswana, specifically the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. This pan is part of an array of salt pans or salt flats throughout Northern / Central Botswana. We travelled here during the Zebra Migration; this wildlife spectacle occurs during the green season. The Zebra migration is the largest mass migration of zebra in southern Africa, after the Great Migration in Kenya's Masai Mara and Tanzania's Serengeti. The Chobe-Nxai Pan zebra migration is the longest mammal migration in Africa.
