Sanyo Shinkansen Gets Musical Cue From Famed Galaxy Express

Legendary manga artist Leiji Matsumoto, 78, got to hear a familiar tune at a ceremony for the Sanyo Shinkansen bullet train held on March 9 ,2016 in Kitakyusyu,Japan,at JR Kokura Station in Kita-Kyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture-the musical theme from the anime series drawn from his manga, "Galaxy Express 999." To mark the line’s 40 years of operation, the song will be played on Shinkansen platforms when trains depart JR Shin-Kobe, Okayama, Hiroshima and Kokura stations. It will also be played at JR Hakata Station from March 10. Matsumoto, a native of Kokura, was joined during the ceremony by singer and songwriter Yukihide Takekawa, 63, who composed the famous piece with the band Godiego.
