HODA KOTB: It certainly is. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: You know who we have to thank for that? HODA KOTB: Who? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: The L.A. Tourism Board. Yes, we do. HODA KOTB: By the way, you guys, for those of you who don’t know, this is an outdoor mall, which I am unfamiliar with. The sun is shining inside. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: It happens in Egypt. HODA KOTB: Anyway, we’re just steps away from the Third Street Promenade. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yes. Which has been around for a long, long time in the little wonderful town of Santa Monica, which is this gem community, isn’t it, in the middle of Los Angeles? HODA KOTB: Oh. You guys. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Right on the ocean. It’s gorgeous. HODA KOTB: And we want to point out, we have a spectacular looking crowd. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yes, we do. HODA KOTB: And-- and we have something for one of one of you. One person in this audience is going to get a spectacular prize. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: And it’s not Blake. HODA KOTB: No, no. It’s not even a mug. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: It’s not even a mug. HODA KOTB: It’s better than a Kathie Lee CD. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Don’t push it. It’s even better than a Hoda Ten Years Later book. HODA KOTB: Oh, you got it? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yes, she does. HODA KOTB: Okay. But we’re going to reveal the person, and this person is going to be just knocked off their socks. By the way, Blake Shelton is with us today. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: He is with us today. Yes, yes, yes. His new CD coming out. And of course the Grammys were last night. Lots of-- lots of surprises. A lot of people didn’t-- they broke the rules. HODA KOTB: Yes, they-- that’s-- that’s how people do. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yes, they did. But the beg news is that huge storm that you and-- and everybody with our crew missed. HODA KOTB: You guys-- KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yes. Oh, my gosh, they’re all shoveling out. HODA KOTB: That was a crazy storm on the East Coast. And here’s the thing, I have to hand it to all the meteorologists, Al Roker and all those guys-- KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Because they called this. HODA KOTB:--because they called it the Monday before. They were talking about the convergence of the two fronts and the thirty inches and all that-- KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: And that’s why we changed our flight plans. HODA KOTB: And then-- we are here. But I got to tell you, we like the way you guys do things on the West Coast with a couple of exceptions. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: No, no, no. I think they’re healthy, Hode. They start-- they start the day basically they way we do. HODA KOTB: They like wheat-- with wheat grass? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Oh, they start it nice and healthy. HODA KOTB: And we’re not into your-- no, we’re not that into your wheat grass and stuff. We like our-- do I have a Spanx problem? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Probably. HODA KOTB: So what else is new? Okay. So they like it with wheat grass. We like it a little differently, don’t we? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Well, we want the healthy and fun-- HODA KOTB: So here’s our drink-- KATHIE LEE GIFFORD:--so we get the healthy with a little fun. HODA KOTB: Here’s a drink. It is called Spontaneous Happiness with Infused-- what is that-- Shochu? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Shochu. HODA KOTB: Schochu, Elderflowers and lime from the crew. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Well, well, things are looking up. HODA KOTB: Okay. What is this? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Thank you. Where are you from? Which-- which restaurant. MICHAEL: From Zengo right at the top there. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Oh, Zengo right up. HODA KOTB: All right. So, what’s in this? CLIFF: So you got Saint Germain. HODA KOTB: Uh-Huh. CLIFF: You have got Tombo Shochu-- HODA KOTB: Okay. CLIFF: Lime juice, and a little bit of simple syrup. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: So in other words, it’s good for us. HODA KOTB: Hit me with it. CLIFF: All right. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Thank you very much. What is your name, big boy? MICHAEL: Michael. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Hello, Michael. HODA KOTB: And what’s your name sweetie? CLIFF: My name is Cliff. HODA KOTB: Cliff. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: (Unintelligible) Cliff. HODA KOTB: Isn’t that sweet? HODA KOTB: Shall we try? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Oh, Cliff takes a little more time. CLIFF: Yeah. Absolutely. Here’s a piece of lime for you. HODA KOTB: Oh, thanks sweetie. Thanks Cliff. CLIFF: There you go. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: How do we start? (unintelligible) finish. MICHAEL: Exactly. HODA KOTB: Cheers. Boys, thank you. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Cheers. Thanks so much. Thank you. (Cross talking) HODA KOTB: Okay. So, the Sports Illustrated the-- the Sports Illustrated cover is out. Have you guys seen it? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: And one more time they didn’t pick you. It’s just wrong on every level. HODA KOTB: Okay. You guys-- have you seen the cover?. Kate Upton is on the cover. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Have you seen both of her? HODA KOTB: You guys, it’s almost a little grotesque. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: It’s a little on the utterly ridiculous side. Have you seen it? I mean, they don’t even look real. I mean, and I have seen fake ones and real ones, but those are like-- those need their own zip code. HODA KOTB: Those are huge honkers. Can we see, I guess they’ll be up there. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: I see the picture of them. HODA KOTB: It will probably be up there in a second, but it was leaked early. It was supposed to be released on David Letterman-- KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Hopefully they don’t leak. HODA KOTB: There they are. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: They don’t want them leaking. HODA KOTB: Okay. First of all, I don’t think they’re real. I don’t care what anyone says. You can see right there. I don’t think so. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: The rest of her is though. She looks pretty darn good. So, it’s the second year in a row, and it’s kind of a great com-- a great honor apparently. Only couple of times otherwise in the history of has-- has a model been deemed worthy because after twenty-four nothing is the same. HODA KOTB: I don’t know how-- just picture in ten years, what’s going to happen with those knockers? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Bovine City. HODA KOTB: They’re going to-- they’re going go-- she’s joining us where they fall. Okay. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yeah, yeah, yeah. HODA KOTB: We packed to come here. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Till gravity takes its course. HODA KOTB: We packed to come here, and as you guys know the way you pack is just like your personality. Isn’t it? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: It tells you everything about you that a future spouse would need to know probably, don’t you think? HODA KOTB: Probably. Yeah. So we have some photos of our-- KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Like it. HODA KOTB:--of our packing. Okay. So you-- this is your photo, I think. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: I believe so. HODA KOTB: Now, I haven’t seen your’s-- so this is how we packed to come here. I can’t even. Oh, that’s Bambino sitting in the-- KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: That’s Bambino sitting. That’s all I need. That’s all I need. He always, when-- when I bring out the suitcase, he immediately gets the hound dog look and jumps in the suitcase because he loves his mommy. HODA KOTB: Now, how do you-- how do you pack? Do you roll it up and make it perfect? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: I roll it up. I make it perfect. What do you think, Hoda? HODA KOTB: Okay. I’ll tell you. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: What do you do, my darling girl? HODA KOTB: You know what I do? Okay. My bag-- KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Do you-- do you even think about it ahead of time, Hoda? HODA KOTB: No, I don’t plan. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yeah. HODA KOTB: I just kind of-- I look around my-- my apartment and throw-- can you see it? You know what, a friend of mine who looked at that picture said what’s more shocking than the actual bad packing job is the horrible nightstand piles on--. My apartment is a complete mess. But it does show exactly your personality. But they say the way to pack is-- do you guys stress about packing, or you don’t care? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: See like everybody talks about-- HODA KOTB: You don’t care? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD:--the stressing-- how many, how many-- show of hands, please, if you stress over packing. First of all, they’re Californians. They don’t stress about anything. HODA KOTB: Yes. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Earthquake? Ah, it will be over in a second. You know. PHC is closed, you know, they’ll get the boulders out of there in no time. HODA KOTB: You’re right. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Fires-- HODA KOTB: Who cares? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Who hasn’t seen fire? HODA KOTB: You know what though, here’s the thing, I only packed a couple of pairs of shoes, but you guess, I have the best tip for shoes. If your shoes hurt you, and I know that these are a little painful. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Well, you know, what they’re-- they’re great because look at the bottoms so we know what they are-- HODA KOTB: So cute. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: --but they’re my daughter’s. She painted that red on there. Not real. HODA KOTB: Okay. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: But so-- they’re a size-- they’re a half size too big. HODA KOTB: Too big? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yes. She’s the little tiniest thing, but she wears a half size larger than I do. HODA KOTB: Cass is little-- little beat-- but hang on. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: No. HODA KOTB: Look what I did, not they’re not that big. Look what I did you guys. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Now look at yours. HODA KOTB: This is so good. Okay. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Oh, Hoda, is that a Kotex pad? HODA KOTB: No. It’s a-- have you ever put a maxi pad in your shoe? You guys-- and I’m not-- I kid you not-- KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Guys, I apologize. HODA KOTB:--if your shoes-- no, if your shoes are hurting you, and you don’t have time to go and get the thing-- KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: No, you know-- HODA KOTB:-- go to the drugstore, peel it-- KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: That’s a man saying, yes, he’s done that Hoda. HODA KOTB: I’m telling you-- KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Don’t judge. The pad is a male. HODA KOTB: -your shoes are so comfortable. It’s like a cushion and they don’t hurt. I’m so-- I’ve done-- I’m doing it with all my shoes. It’s an excellent technique. All right. Enough about packing isn’t that. All right. Should we do our Favorite Things? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yes. Let’s do our Favorite Things. Once again, I have to thank Cassidy because I tell you what, you either have to be like Bobbie Thomas and on the edge of everything and Jill Martin to know everything that’s going on, or you have to have a teenage daughter to tell you what you are doing wrong-- HODA KOTB: Right. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD:--and what is really hip and wonderful out there. So, the other day this-- this box came-- or this bag came, and I opened it up and said Cassidy and I-- and four of these were in it. Have you all seen these from the Body Shop. HODA KOTB: What is it? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Okay. And I said, first of all, what is she ordering for? You know, and I opened it up, and it’s this cream. And then I smell it. HODA KOTB: Smells like? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: And it smells like coconut-- HODA KOTB: Coconut. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD:--and then I see that it’s shiny, and then I put it on my skin, and I’m going-- HODA KOTB: Oh my God it smells so good. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: --order four more. Because, I mean, it’s-- It’s-- I put it on Hodi this morning and it’s all rough. HODA KOTB: Don’t-- don’t ask what she’s talking about? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Again. Again, don’t judge. But you get it at the Body Shop, and I have no idea how much it costs. I don’t think it’s much because I don’t give her any money-- HODA KOTB: Yeah. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: --so it can’t be too much. HODA KOTB: Twenty-one ninety-nine. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: See, and it’s fantastic. What’s your Hode? HODA KOTB: This is-- you guys if you want to book that’s going to put you in a great mood, it’s called God Never Blinks. It’s by Regina Brett. I saw one of her quotes, I try to do a daily quote everyday on Twitter or FaceBook. And I tweeted one of her quotes, and she sent me her book. I was flying here on the-- on the plane ride to LA. I started reading it. I had tears coming down. Each one is a life lesson and an anecdote about life. I’ll have to tell you, it is so uplifting. It put me in such a great mood. Sara Haynes is in the crowd. Sara, what’s your favorite thing? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: What’s you favorite thing besides being in LA. SARA HAYNES: This is really quick, it’s-- it’s from chocolatesun.com. It’s the best body scrub I have ever seen in my life. It’s about thirty dollars. But I have never experienced anything like it. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Really? SARA HAYNES: It’s citrus product. It’s amazing. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Well, you’re young. HODA KOTB: All right. All right kids-- kids, we go to go. We have Blake Shelton. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yes we do. HODA KOTB: We have a lot of fun coming up. So, stick with us. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Somebody is going to win an unbelievable prize. HODA KOTB: You’re going to die. You won’t believe it.” Overhead panning shot of the cheering crowd and of Gifford and Kotb on the outdoor stage.
