Event Date(s): 09/24/2010 | Event Location(s): Washington, District of Columbia, Arlington, Virginia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey | Description: A new effort is getting underway to deal with the nation's fastest growing drug problem: getting rid of out of date prescription drugs. This weekend, the Drug Enforcement Administration hopes to take back millions of unused and unwanted prescription pills. The advice used to be to flush those old pills down the drain. But it turns out that contaminates the water supply. And if they're simply thrown away, they can be retrieved from the garbage. So now, the nation's drug agents say, give them to us and we'll destroy them. NBC's Pete Williams reports live on-camera from Washington DC holding a bottle of prescription drugs.
