Event Date(s): 05/17/1999 | Event Location(s): Manchester, Iowa; Tazewell County, Illinois | Description: BRIGITTE QUINN, anchor: Severe flooding is gripping parts of northeastern Iowa. Hundreds of people have been driven from their homes across the region. Work crews have been filling and stacking sandbags. And near Manchester, authorities are worried about an endangered dam holding back a swollen lake. In nearby Illinois, fast-rising floodwaters stranded a school bus with six students aboard as the driver tried to cross a bridge on the way to school Monday morning. Emergency crews removed the children and towed the bus to safety. None of the kids was hurt.
