Off camera reporter Glen Johnson interrupts,"That's not true governor, that is not true. Ron Kaufman is a lobbyist. How can you say..." Romney says,"Did you hear what I said? Did you hear what I said, Glen?" Johnson says, You said you don't have lobbyists running your campaign." Romney says,"I said I don't have lobbyists running my campaign and he's not running my campaign." MS: Johnson. MS: Romney. (FLASH CUT) 2 MS: Romney says to Johnson, Listen to my words. All right listen to my words. I said..." Johnson says,"That's not semantics of running a campaign and giving me advice, come on." NBC Washington Bureau Chief Tim Russert joins Meredith Vieira live in Studio 1A. Russert says a there is true religious divide among the voters of South Carolina. He says Huckabee has fervent support from evangelicals but he has to broaden his base. He says Fred Thompson on the ballot is splitting the evangelic vote and helping John McCain. He says the debate about race between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton polarized the electorate. He says Edwards on the ballot is hurting Clinton because he's drawing a third of the white vote. He says as of now, South Carolina is still Obama country. He says Nevada was founded by Mormons, and as a Mormon, Romney has a grasp on the Republican caucus there. He says the caucus is polarized between Clinton and Obama in Nevada between races. He says Obama has to reach out and put a coalition back together. Referring to Romney's argument with a reporter, he says there was clearly anger, exhaustion, and frustration at play but reporters can't be stenographers, if the candidate says something that isn't accurate there's nothing wrong with challenging them, though it got a little personal on both sides. He says he hopes they made up.
