INT MS: In an interview military expert Loren Thompson says "It's not common to close bases in the middle of a war, and because we are in a war fewer bases will be closed than expected." EXT DAY HIGH WS: Docked battleships. MS: Soldiers march in formation. WS: A vehicle drives past a military cargo plane on the tarmac. INT THE PENTAGON MS: At a news conference Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Richard Myers says, "You may shut down bases, but airplanes don't go way. They go somewhere else." EXT DAY MS: Sailors march in formation. WS: Sailors standing on a ship's deck. INT MS: Republican Maine Senator Olympia Snowe looks at a document as she stands next to her desk. EXT DAY PORTSMOUTH NAVAL STATION, MAINE MS: A sailor stands next to the railing. INT MS: In an interview Snowe says "In our state for example, we're talking hundreds of millions of dollars that's at stake, and you know, thousands of jobs." Miklaszewski reports and closes on camera.
