HODA KOTB: We, of course, are talking about the one, the only Carrie Fisher. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Carrie Fisher. Kotb and Gifford are joined by Fisher live in the Today New York studio. HODA KOTB: And now Carrie and her hair will return to the big screen just in time for Christmas in the highly anticipated movie, it's called Star Wars: The Force Awakens. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Stars Wars: The Force Awakens. And she's here-- we're so happy you're-- this is your dog. CARRIE FISHER: This is Gary. I try to get him in the movie but— HODA KOTB: What's up with-- what's up with the tongue? CARRIE FISHER: The tongue comes with him as a kind of like-- like a— KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: It's an accessory. CARRIE FISHER: It's a side of— KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Side dish. HODA KOTB: It just does that. All right, so you have not yet seen Star Wars, right? CARRIE FISHER: Yes, I have. HODA KOTB: You did? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Oh, when did you see it? HODA KOTB: When did you see it? CARRIE FISHER: Just a couple of days ago. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: And? HODA KOTB: And? CARRIE FISHER: It's really, really-- people are going to be happy. HODA KOTB: Can you get us anything? CARRIE FISHER: And I don't lie. HODA KOTB: Any crumbs? Any bits of info? CARRIE FISHER: Well, I don't look as good as I would like to but then you can see that from there. I look very tense— CLIPS: Brief cuts from the movie “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. HODA KOTB: Yeah. CARRIE FISHER: --and like I'm retaining fluid. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: I thought it was Tyne Daly there. CARRIE FISHER: There's a lot of people that sort of looks like. And, you know, these other younger pictures of me. And if that's not distressing— KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yeah, I know, we all go through that though, sweetie. CARRIE FISHER: We do. Does it end? No. It gets worse and worse. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: It gets— CARRIE FISHER: The only thing I can think of is in ten years I want to think, God, I wish I still looked like this which is hilarious to me now but. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Everything is relative. You know that. You've written how many books? CARRIE FISHER: It's relatives. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Relatives, everything is relative. HODA KOTB: Relative. CARRIE FISHER: Which is-- speaking of which, my mother wrote a book and she can't go on talk shows right now, her doctor said don't go on a talk show,-- HODA KOTB: So you're doing it for her? CARRIE FISHER: --makes you worse. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: You're drinking yours or Gary's? HODA KOTB: No, Gary's is here. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Okay, good. Okay. CARRIE FISHER: I was drinking dog water. That's the kind of water to retain. If you are going to do it, it should be pet water, and have it clean. HODA KOTB: What's your mom's book, real quick? CARRIE FISHER: Make 'em Laugh. HODA KOTB: Make 'em Laugh. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yeah. HODA KOTB: Awesome. CARRIE FISHER: So-- because you don't really need to promote star-- I did a film called Star Wars. You may not have heard of it. And it's about my parents arguing all the time and then getting a divorce. HODA KOTB: So— KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: What was it like to be though with the old gang back again and— CARRIE FISHER: It was good. I mean it is not like we didn't see each other in between. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: A lot, yeah. CARRIE FISHER: You know, every time George gets an award, they haul us out. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Right. CARRIE FISHER: So— KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Not Clooney, Lucas. Right? HODA KOTB: Right. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: We have to tell people. CARRIE FISHER: Yeah. No, yeah. I name drop. Any name that is just a single name and then go. So I am actually giving him award today, no, not-- George, yeah. So that's— HODA KOTB: Clooney? CARRIE FISHER: No. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Lucas. CARRIE FISHER: Lucas. You know, they are both famous. And so— KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. HODA KOTB: What-- is there-- are there any little bits that you can tell us about Star Wars since you see it? I know you are not supposed to spoil anything, but— (Cross talking) HODA KOTB: --anything you can give us. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yeah. Is there a kiss? CARRIE FISHER: Probably not. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Is there a kiss? CARRIE FISHER: I can't tell you that stuff. We made out constantly off camera though. It was just weird because we're so glad to see each other. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: There's still so much sexual tension. CARRIE FISHER: But we had nothing to say. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yeah. CARRIE FISHER: Well, when you are at this age, there is sexual tension of another sort, you know what I am saying? KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: I think I do. CARRIE FISHER: I'm scared. So, no we did have fun, and-- and also, it is a job. So, you don't also— KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yes, yes. CARRIE FISHER: --it's early in the morning. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: And hopefully you have a little piece of the action— CARRIE FISHER: Ugly hair— KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: --with this movie. CARRIE FISHER: No one gets pieces of anything. HODA KOTB: What? CARRIE FISHER: Because they could just say, oh, you want a piece of it-- we'll get that girl over there, she is not as old as you are. HODA KOTB: No, but they couldn't. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: But they cannot replace you, you are the original. HODA KOTB: No, no, it has-- it has to be you. CARRIE FISHER: Plastic surgery. It has to be you. HODA KOTB: It has to be you. CARRIE FISHER: Gary, go for it. He is sitting like Winston Churchill. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Gary looks-- he looks like-- he looks like a lounge singer. CARRIE FISHER: And I thought that they were lucky to have him. When he saw Chewbacca, it was a (unintelligible) thing. He thinks it's a giant dog that's, you know— KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: He's related to, maybe. CARRIE FISHER: --standing up really tall to get a treat. So, yeah. HODA KOTB: Gary, you're such— KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: We never know which Carrie is going to show up. But it's always a delight. We are crazy about you, sweetie. CARRIE FISHER: It's the one who retains fluid. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yes. I know the feeling. Carrie, it's a pleasure. HODA KOTB: Bye, Gary. CARRIE FISHER: No, he is retaining the fluid. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: You're a sweet boy. HODA KOTB: Oh. CARRIE FISHER: That's why here's the tongue. HODA KOTB: Yeah. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: I know. All right. HODA KOTB: All right. CARRIE FISHER: Thank you so much. Please go see the movie, it's called Star Wars. HODA KOTB: Star Wars: The Force Awakens. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Star Wars: The Force Awakens. CARRIE FISHER: That is right. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: And it hits theaters— CARRIE FISHER: And read my mother's book, which is— HODA KOTB: Yes. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: Yes. HODA KOTB: Anyway— CARRIE FISHER: Okay. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: --December 18th. HODA KOTB: All right.
