Record downpours have been pummeling many parts of Japan. Some places have already seen more rainfall than the average for the entire month of July. On July 11th, Japan's land ministry says record rainfall in the western part of the country has triggered mudslides in at least 448 places in 29 of the nation's 47 prefectures. On July 12th more than 180 people are dead and dozens are still missing.
