Shakira addresses Oxford Union; Shakira speech continued SOT - world has shrunk / you are architects of change / how many things today will be obvious tomorrow / how will society live / - Latin America has three times the amount of London / children can't wait / they need us to cure child with leukaemia or aids with pill or vaccine - need to find solution to global warming - need to find new ways to distribute food so no child goes to bed hungry - education is our ticket / I've seen it / was born and raised in Colombia - seen social strife / growing up in developing world where education is perceived as luxury - children beg for education and parents desperate to provide it / there is an exit strategy to break cycle of poverty - I established my own foundation and have provided education, nutrition, education for parents, community centres for families displaced by violence and have lost everything - have found way to keep kids in school by getting parents involved in their education / by providing meals in schools have decreased drop-out and eradicated malnutrition among students - by creating comprehensive models of education in areas where population is vulnerable to poverty and conflict can transform minds of not only kids but also families and communities - no govt can say that challenge of bringing education to every child is impossible task / steps are to abolish school fees, hire quality teachers, providing text books and food
