Meta says Trump to be allowed back on Facebook, Instagram - archive

Social networking firm Meta Platforms Inc announced it will soon reinstate former US president Donald Trump's accounts on both Facebook and Instagram with "new guardrails.” Trump was banned two years ago over the 2021 US Capitol insurrection and the Republican leader and has already declared himself a 2024 presidential candidate. Nick Clegg, Meta's president of global affairs, said Trump could be suspended for up to two years for each violation of platform policies. It was not clear when or if the 76 year old will return to the platforms, and his representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
