Film: 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy': Gary Oldman interview; ENGLAND: London: INT Gary Oldman (Actor) interview SOT - I was familiar with the book and I remember the series / Aware of the ghost of Sir Alec / I didn't go back and rewatch the series / You are playing the same character - aspects of the character you can bring to the fore / Sir Alec's Smiley was a little more huggable, I'm more prickly / It was a quiet set but when we were altogether, Colin's very funny, John's got a lot of stories / Not a great deal of downtime / Benedict very funny, Kieran Hines, wicked sense of Irish humour / So when we were all there Toby Jones, John Hurt, Colin in that room, we had a few laughs / I'd probably make an awful spy, not very good at secrets, not good at lying I don't like lying / That's the kind of food they give you on movie sets [treacle pudding] / Wanted to give him that retired middle-aged paunch / I called it Eating for George / I'm still trying to lose it a year later
