Thousands rally in Athens on 2nd anniversary of Greece's deadliest train crash
ATHENS, GREECE - FEBRUARY 28: An aerial view of people take part in a protest to mark the second anniversary of a train collision that left 57 people dead in the year 2023, in Athens on 28 February 2025. Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Athens' Syntagma Square on Friday 28 February to show their anger at a perceived lack of justice two years after Greece's worst-ever train crash killed more than 50 people. Striking workers grounded flights and halted sea and land transport across the country, while shops were closed and theatres cancelled performances. On 28 February 2023, a passenger train collided head-on with a freight train near the town of Tempi in northern Greece. The official death toll was 57, including many university students and nine members of the train crew. (Photo by Costas Baltas/Anadolu via Getty Images)
