Death of Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field, 22 August 1485 (c19th century).

Death of Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth, 22 August 1485 (c19th century). Richard III (1452-1485), the last Yorkist king of England, usurped the throne on the death of his brother, Edward IV, in 1483. He confined Edward's son, the 12 year-old rightful King Edward V, and his younger brother in the Tower of London, where they were almost certainly murdered. Henry Tudor raised an Army against Richard, and defeated him at Bosworth, in Leicestershire. The battle and Richard's death brought an end to the Wars of the Roses, and Henry was crowned King Henry VII, first of the Tudor monarchs. (Photo by Ann Ronan Pictures/Print Collector/Getty Images)
