American Doctor Volunteers To Treat Wounded Near Ukraine's Eastern Front
SLOVIANSK, UKRAINE - JUNE 24: Dr. Frank Duggan instructs volunteer Ukrainian doctors in the use of hydrocolloid dressings while dressing the wound of a patient whose arm was fractured and surgically repaired at the Sloviansk Hospital on June 24, 2022 in Sloviansk, Ukraine. Duggan, a physician from Boston, Massachusetts, came to Ukraine with a donation of medical supplies to help treat patients and train hospital staff. The hospital in Sloviansk, which has been operating with no running water for about a month, is less than 8 miles from Russian held territory in Ukraine and is operating with less than a third of the staff it had before the start of the war with Russia. The sound of artillery fire inside the hospital is a constant reminder of the war getting closer as is the steady intake of wounded. (Photo by Scott Olson/Getty Images)
