Soccer World Cup 1990: Andreas Brehme with the World Cup Trophy

German defender Andreas Brehme (L) holds the World Cup in his arms minutes before the German team bus is set to take off while his team-mate Thomas Haessler watches him. A day earlier, on 08 July 1990, Brehme had clinched the German victory when he scored the 1-0 on a penalty in the 85th minute. Germany went on to beat defending champion Argentina in the World Cup final on Brehme's goal at the Olympic Stadium in Rome, Italy, by a final score of 1-0. It is Germany's third World Cup title after 1954 and 1974.
