A 4,000-pound piece of the aft center segment tang joint of the right-hand Solid Rocket Booster (SRB) flown with Space Shuttle Challenger (OV-099) is off-loaded from the Stena Workhorse, 15th April 1986. The SRB was recovered on 13th April with the assistance of the unmanned submersible Gemini, 35 miles northeast of Cape Canaveral in 560 feet of water; the burned out area measures 15" by 28".
