The Pokot or Pokoot people, Kenya - stock photo
The chief with his two wifes and a son.
The Pokoot people live in West Pokot County and Baringo County in Kenya and also in the Pokot District of eastern Karamoja region in Uganda.
The Pokoot were once considered part of the Kalenjin people
and speak the Pökoot language.
There are two main subgroups among Pokot, the Hill and Plains Pokoot.
The Pokot are polygamous, a man can have more than one wive, each having their own hut. The position of women in Pokoot society is weak.
