Ygor is a six-time Pan American junior champion having won the first gold medal in the history of badminton for Brazil at Lima 2019 Pan American Games. He is also the first Brazilian male Olympic badminton player. Ygor started in the sport at Associacao Miratus, an NGO created by his father, Sebastiao, who offers badminton classes to children from the Chacrinha community in Rio de Janeiro.
