Irish Republican Rebel Prisoners After Easter Rising

DUBLIN, IRELAND: British soldiers with rifles escort a column of disarmed Irish Volunteer prisoners in civilian clothes, to be moved from the military barracks in Dublin to Kingstown (now Dœn Laoghaire) for deportation in 1916. This followed the suppression of the Easter Rising against British rule. A group of rebels, then two individual prisoners smiling, are posed for the camera under escort by Fusiliers. This news item features in a Topical Budget silent newsreel. (Footage by IWM via Getty Images)
