House Speaker press statement on immigration reform discharge petition
House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin tells reporters it was a fair question he was surprised when the Senate failed to garner 60 votes on five separate immigration reform proposals, he wants a solution to fix DACA with certainty and border security that were not mutually exclusive goals but to pass legislation that could be signed into law in an effort he thought was worthwhile and would get a presidential signature.
