La Raza Head on Trump Inspired Violence
Janet Murguía of the National Council of La Raza speaks at a press conference hosted by the Southern Poverty Law Center at the National Press Club to call on President-elect Donald Trump to immediately and forcefully denounce bigotry and violence carried out since his election. Murguía says that that her organization and held a conference call with 150 affiliates just after the election, learning that virtually all focused the devastating impact of the tone and divisiveness of the campaign on the children they serve, countless instances of harassment, bullying and taunts such that many students contemplated suicide. Murguía calls on Trump to protect and defend all Americans, and condemned violence and hate being committed in his name.
