Ramstein US Air Base, German: August 28th 2021 - Ramstein in western Germany, the largest American military base in Europe, turned into a gigantic refugee camp, full of people who have all been flown from Afghanistan by the US Air Force. Over 300 beige military tents have been erected on its grounds, largely lined with cots to sleep the men. Women and children are staying in three huge aircraft hangars. Ramstein Air Base can host up to 12,000 evacuees from Afghanistan at one time - the evacuees are being processed at the camp before flying on to the United States.
